Yet another small UK event for b-SHAKE called “Live and Unsigned”. A s***load of bands performing one song each. It should be pretty intense and tight in terms of timing. I think we’ll be the only band representing Belgium at this point which is very pleasant. If you want to attend, here’s how you do it:
Princes Hall, Princes Way, Aldershot near Guildford GU11 1NX, Guildford, London and South East GU11 1NX
Those of you who are following us on a regular basis know that we’ve played a small gig in London at “Hope & Anchor” last year. It was in January and despite some extreme working conditions, it was a good way to start the year 2009. The venue is held by Bugbear Bookings and this year they’ve decided to invite us to play again at another one of their venues called “The Dublin Castle”. It’s a similar place, similar equipment but different crowd and beer. We’ll share the stage with some quite interesting UK/Israel acts such as:
HOOF- Great proggy jazz, reminiscent of Mr Bungle or Zappa.
THE FIELD PEOPLE- Willfully old school what with the amassed wailing vocals and keening guitars. It’s at times a campfire singalong. Then it’s a blues rocking groove out. The Grateful Dead are in here in spades, late era Byrds too and some Stones n Creedence . And a nice Moby Grape vibe. Do it well, old school hairy rock outta Israel.
SACRED- Rock pop all girl band hard edged punk thru metal toches a la The Runaways.
SMALL GODS- Early Pink Floyd via Gomez thru a Weller sort of groove…
So as you can see the schedule is quite tight and it looks like this is going to be some intense evening. So hope to see you there.

And so we’re back from our last gig in Middlesex University in London and we have to agree: it was absolutely gorgeous! The past years show at Hope & Anchor was already good enough but this years show is where Britain’s really opened their hearts up to let the foreign music leak inside. During the show we’ve been offered their complete attention, smiles, jumps, dances, hand claps and laughs but after the performance we were rewarded with honest positive feedback.
Middlesex University is a huge audio/video engineer, producer, etc. qualification establishment. This “battle of the bands” was a part of their annual production project. So the aim here was to create a complete musical TV show episode. All band have been filmed before, during and after the performance and had a more in depth interview taped and edited. We should get the video soon and we’ll obviously share it with you straight away. We were kind of surprised by this fact and, intimidated by all these people asking questions and all these cameras, we saw our Belgian accent reappear (@ all the porn movie actors out there who read this: guys, how d’you manage to concentrate while surrounded by a huge production crowd? Please drop us an e-mail.). However it went fluently during and after the performance.
By the end of the event some of the members of the jury said we were a tight, great sounding, the killers like, outstanding band but hence we were not their type of music. Other members disagreed. All in all the winner of the battle were “The Charming Thieves” (great band!) but the reaction of the crowd was a testimonial of their disagreement with this choice and we’ve collected a huge amount of “it should be you…”-like comments and feedbacks. Guys, for us, this is the best price a band could ever expect from a contest so thank you thank you thank you! We promise you to come back and this time there will be a free Belgian chocolate give await for real!
Some of you guys who follow us and check back on a regular basis already had a chance to download our acoustic tune “Scratching Words” through Windows Live playlist. This was a huge success (honestly) so Microsoft and Reverbnation decided to push this pawn again and included our new “Aï Aï Dolores” in their so called Playlist 7 (cf. Windows 7). So, once again, you have a chance to get some FREE STUFF! Yeah, party never ends over here Just click on the banner bellow and get your copy. Put it on your mp3 player and spread the word. Send out an e-mail and ask your friends to download it too as if you support us well, we’ll be on the featured artist page and this means that there will be more free songs soon! So help us to push things forward and you will be rewarded. ATTENTION! This is a limited offer. The song will be available for free download during ONE WEEK ONLY! Thank you in advance. In the meanwhile, push da button…
Mouv’On Air… sound like a new internet radio station. Well it’s almost correct. Actually Mouv’On Air is a monthly Belgian scout magazine. Virginie Tiberghien was there to interview us about the nuts & bolts of b-SHAKEs past, present and future. Here’s the French (and the only ) version of this magazine (well just the excerpt actually). Hope you’ll enjoy reading it.
One more year is almost over and we’d like to thank all of you for following us. The best gift we could imagine would be: you continuing to follow us during the next year. A lot of interesting and huge stuff happened to the band (and often thanks to your support) and apparently a lot of even bigger things are expected in the year to come. We already know that we’ll play a couple of shows in UK this year, will get a couple of really interesting interviews and, most importantly, release some brand new material. 2010 will be a huge year for b-SHAKE and we hope we’ll be able to share it with you. Our website is continuously updated and the whole band works really hard to give you the best day by day. Continue to follow us and let the good times roll! Merry Christmas y’all!
You know we’ve been away for a while recently. This period of silence was due to the enormous amount of music related tasks and events that were keeping us busy. So now that we’ve got a minute to update our blog, things are coming in bulk. Today I’d like to share with you something that actually happened this year begin October. We’ve not been able to warn you earlier but better late than never right? Here’s a 6 pages interview with Somojo Magazine where we talk about all kind of b-SHAKE related stuff like history, equipment, band management, etc. I’m sure you’ll find something interesting for you in this loooooong interview. The PDF file of the October issue is HERE. You’ll need Adobe Acrobat to be able to view it.
So we finally did it. From now on you’ll see a tiny mp3 player in the right sidebar of this website. I know it’s sort of strange for an artist to take that long to make an mp3 player available for large audience but hey, nobody says b-SHAKE is some kind of average band right … Just kidding. It’s there and we filled it up with brand new tracks from our upcoming album. Please enjoy the pure sound!
